About Me

Dr. Kuhu Roy (Ph.D. Foods and Nutrition)

Dr. Kuhu Roy is an experienced nutritionist who has successfully guided several clients all over India to make their nutritional goals achievable and sustainable in the long run. For her, every client is like a new chapter of learning because there is no one size fits all technique when it comes to personalized nutrition regimes.

She runs the first support group in India dedicated exclusively to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), now metabolic dysfunction associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) patients.

In addition to client consultation, she is passionate and skilled in teaching and learning, writing and editing scientific work pertaining to nutrition. She is a peer reviewer for several international journals with a good impact factor. She has international and national scientific papers to her credit that she has also presented at home and abroad. She has also co-authored an introductory chapter on ‘Nutrition and Cancer: Science and Practice. Functional Foods and Cancer: Cancer Biology and Dietary Factors. 2017. First Edition, Textbook. Volume 3. Pg 7-42. ISBN-13: 978-1975761462; ISBN-10: 1975761464 Library of Congress Control Number: 2017913581’ that is used for teaching purpose worldwide in Universities.

She is a life member of Indian Dietetic Association and Nutrition Society of India. She has also served as a member of The Asian Pacific Association for the Study of Liver and The Academic Society for Functional Foods and Bioactive Compounds in the past.

It is during the journey of her doctoral work in the area of NAFLD and its subsequent completion in 2016 that she made spreading awareness about NAFLD her mission, for the very little attention the silent liver disease was given at that point of time in India. In addition to NAFLD being her core area of strength, she identifies metabolic syndrome (a cluster of cardiovascular risk factors), functional foods and micronutrients as her areas of interest.

In her first attempt itself, she cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) for Lectureship and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) which is conducted by the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi, India. She taught various subjects under ‘Foods and Nutrition’ at MS University of Baroda for five years by virtue of being a Junior and then a Senior Research Fellow (SRF) of the UGC. She has also served as a State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) faculty in the past.

A gold medallist, she enjoyed University merit scholarships all during her undergraduate (B.Sc. Foods and Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition) and post graduate years (M.Sc. Foods and Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition) of learning.
