Based on a reference from a friend, I consulted Dr. Kuhu Roy for a diet consultation with the objective of weight management and healthy living. Dr. Roy was very methodical in her approach and the process seemed very personalised from collation of data regarding my food habits and lifestyle, to analysis of same in order to derive a diet plan that would help me achieve my objectives. I was required to submit a diet log recording therein all details regarding my daily food and water consumption as also physical exercise, if any. Dr Roy analysed the same and suggested a diet plan that could be implemented without resorting to wholesale changes to the food cooked at home such that it would be easier to follow. A review exercise would be undertaken every fortnight to ascertain compliance with the diet plan and point out the inconsistencies. This helped to maintain focus on a consistent basis and gradually reduce the cheat days. Over a period of time I was able to achieve the desired results and felt duly satisfied with my decision of consulting Dr Roy.

KolkataI had heard of Dr. Kuhu Roy in late 2021 from a very close friend. As someone who has been struggling with their weight loss journey, I have interacted with many a dietician or nutritionist and was never really convinced with the results promised. However, seeing a close friends results and his comfort that no radical changes would be required to my lifestyle peaked my interest and I reached out to Dr. Roy in October 2021. From the get-go, Dr. Roy’s approach was both different and interesting. She didn’t change anything at the outset and only requested me to make a note of my meals for a week or so. She surprisingly asked me to take some blood tests, which for me was a first-time request from any dietician. After I provided details of my meals and my blood test reports to Dr. Roy, she came back to me with a detailed and complex meal plan. The complexity of the plan was short-lived once Dr. Roy walked me through it explaining each aspect in detail. While my objective of contacting Dr. Roy was solely weight-loss, I learnt that Dr. Roy follows a more balanced approach of overall well-being. The most pleasant aspect of the diet plan was how smoothly it fit into my regular diet without having to change a lot of what I need to eat while focusing on how much quantity I need to eat. Of course, the diet needs to be supplemented with exercise where the ask was just a basic walk and nothing too fancy. What is most interesting is that Dr. Roy schedules follow-ups about every 2 weeks to ensure that the diet is on track and to monitor results based on the log maintained. Don’t bother cheating on the logs… she’ll know! Dr. Roy can be both, the reality check you need to get your act straight and a problem solver who will hear you out and help you make the diet plan work. Working with Dr. Roy helped me lose ~10Kgs over a 5 month period with an overall improvement in my health and energy levels. Since working with Dr. Roy, I have without any hesitation recommended Dr. Roy, to many of my friends and colleagues who are interested in leading a healthy lifestyle.

BangaloreI consulted Dr Kuhu Roy in 2020 with the primary intention of losing weight and reducing belly fat. Given what I had heard of my friends' experiences with various dieticians, I was a bit sceptical of the whole endeavour. However, Dr Roy's meticulous and straight forward approach soon put to rest all such doubts. Rather than simply prescribing an off- the-shelf diet plan based on BMI score, Dr Roy duly asked for and scrutinised a detailed diet log of 7 days before formulating a diet plan that would address my specific requirements and would be suited to my partcular lifestyle. I was particularly impressed with the holistic outlook adopted by Dr Roy in tailoring a plan that would improve my overall health as compared to a narrow approach of simply helping shed few kgs. Dr Roy was mindful to include the items that would generally be cooked in any Indian household taking due cognisance of the fact that it would not be possible to cater differently to each member of the family. Dr Roy firmly reiterated that it would be better to ensure a diet that could be followed consistently with minimum change to the family menu rather than focus on so called superfoods that would normally not be part of any Indian family shopping list. Any plan can only be as good as the execution and it is here that Dr Roy's approach of monitoring the diet log every 14 days and making her displeasure known to any avoidable deviation particularly helped in instilling a disciplined approach to diet and the overall health. Lastly, as they say, the proof of pudding is in the eating, I was able to successfully lose weight upto my desired and recommended levels and feel generally energetic, zestful and more responsible towards my overall health. I have, since, had no hesitation in recommending Dr Roy to anyone looking to improve their health through their diet.

A balanced diet, with all the essential macro and micronutrients.
There is a well-established strong evidence base to propagate the traditional Indian diet as it is wholesome in itself to provide all the essential nutrients (both macro and micro) that one needs. The trending diets are fad diets (other than the Mediterranean and DASH Diet ofcourse – components of which are already included in a balanced diet), that only have a short tem impact, are usually not sustainable and very little is known about their long term implications.
It is ideal to obtain all the nutrients through food itself instead of popping any pill. Only if the client is a vegetarian or a vegan (a supplement to meet the daily vitamin B12 requirement) or has a physiological condition that demands nutrients that cannot be met via the diet alone, it is only then that the supplements will be recommended.
